- L. S. I’m a 49 year old female. I
do weight training, and bike ride and ice skate. When traditional
physical therapy failed to relieve my knee pain; I wasn’t
sure at that point if I would ever run again. Mike first used
therapeutic techniques to relieve my immediate pain. He then
assessed my biomechanics to identify the cause of my injury,
By applying a combination of specific stretching and strengthening
techniques to address my specific problem I began to run again.
Mike then created a maintenance program for me to do on my own
to prevent reinjury.
- S. F. I am an energetic, active, 50 year old male and
have been seeing Michael for about 5 years. As part of my regimen
of physical conditioning I have been using soft tissue and muscular
massage therapy for 20 years. Michael is by far the best I
have encountered. He not only addresses the immediate problem area(s)
but works with his client to understand the source of the problem.
He will then offer several potential remedies involving certain
exercises and stretching techniques to alleviate the problem long
term. His philosophy is all about the future, not the past. He
believes in a preventive vs. a reactive approach to physical therapy
and that is extremely important to someone as active as I am. Michael
is thorough, well informed, professional, and takes a personal
interest in the well being of his clients.
- S. L. Age 48, Female, Tennis Player. I have
been working with Michael for more than three years. I had injured
my leg during a match and had limited mobility. I had spoken to
Michael at the tennis club and decided to see if he could help
me. Michael's extensive training with the therapists for the USA.
Summer Olympic teams is just one example of his dedication
to his patients. He has since helped me with various tennis related
injuries from tennis elbow to lower back pain. I have always walked
away healthier and stronger. I believe that massage therapy is
the best way to handle tennis injuries and that Michael Cannizzaro
is the best at what he does. I have recommended Michael to many
fellow tennis players and would recommend him to anyone.
- R. K. 44 year old male Sports Coach (Travel Soccer and
Basketball), Golf, Tennis, Bowflex, Free weights, Elliptical,
etc....Since my late teens, I have experienced chronic
neck and back pain. With time, these symptoms have become
increasingly worse including periodic episodes of acute, debilitating
pain with loss of mobility. MRI results indicate several
degenerative cervical discs, calcified bone spurs impinging on
the brachial nerve plexus, and spinal stenosis. Physical
therapy and prescription medicine, (NSAID's, muscle relaxants
and pain killers), helped address the short term situation. Unfortunately,
orthopedic medicine provided only one path to address the condition;
cervical corrective surgery with fusion of the damaged discs.
I chose to pass on the surgery and seek alternative approaches
to helpmanage my condition. In 2005, after another episode
of acute pain and associated issues, I began an extensive, comprehensive
program combining the physical therapy/prescription medicine
(detailed above), but also included neuromuscular therapy with
Michael Cannizzaro. After 2-3 months of this intensive
therapy, my condition had improved dramatically. I have
continued with at home exercise/physical therapy, and schedule
regular sessions with Michael for neuromuscular therapy. These
sessions have significantly improved my overall physical condition,
allowing me to effectively manage my condition and live a "balanced" active,
healthy lifestyle.
- K. C. I'm a 50 year old very active female with sports
that include running, tennis, weight lifting, and hiking. I
have been a client of Michael Cannizzaro for over 1 year. My
job as a restaurant owner keeps me very busy, also on my feet
most of the day. I have had chronic neck pain for many
years. Over the years I have been to many Chiropractors
but with no long lasting results. A friend
of mine recommended Mike to me a year ago. After my first
visit it didn't take me long to realize how extremely knowledgeable and
professional he is. He knew exactly how to treat
the area and I have had great long lasting results with his treatments. I now
refer to him as my Neck Doctor!
- J. S. Husband, Father, Corporate Sales VP & Ironman
Triathlete Male, age 43. My coach recommeded that I
incorporate Mike Cannizzaro's therapeutic massage therapy into
my weekly training routine. Once I did, I began to recover
quicker, and remained injury free for the first time! Most
important, I was healthy on race day! Including Mike into
my training was a critical success factor to crossing the finish
line at Ironman Wisconsin! Thanks Mike!(2.4 mile swim,
112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run)
- T.R. 40 year old male triathlete. As an Ironman
Triathlete who trains on average, 15 hours a week, it"s important
to keep your body aligned and your muscles healthy. Mike
Cannizzaro has been part of my training routine for the past three
years. Mike
is a competitive cyclist himself and understands the needs of competitive
and age group athlete. His
massage therapy and training tips were essential elements in the
training program that has helped me cross the finish line in some
of the most challenging races out there including, Escape from
Alcatraz Triathlon and Ironman.
- M. S., female 43 As a mother of three and competitive
tennis player, I always seem to be stressing my body
in some form or fashion. My doctor recommended Mike Cannizzaro
and his unique therapeutic sports massage as part of my fitness
routine. I felt better after the first visit and have continued
to include him in my weekly program. Mike's knowledge,
customized approach and magic touch keep this forty something
mom going strong!
- G. C. Age: 37 Male Activities: Guitar, Biking, Walking Mike's
a practical healer. I don't have a lot of patience for any
touchy-feely nonsense, and was glad to encounter his common sense
ideas on how I could feel better. A session is, in addition
to a physical work-over, an education on how to think for myself
about the cause and effect of my structure and habits.
- D. A. I am a 42 year-old male, who is a financial
advisor by occupation and avid golfer. I consider myself
in good physical shape and health, eating well and working out
consistently three days a week. However, approximately two years
ago I had my lower back "seize" up where I could barely
move for approximately one week. After repeated visits with a
chiropractor, and limited improvement, I sought out Mike's expertise
- the immediate results were very encouraging. In our initial
consultation, Mike performed an analysis by discussing my concerns,
reviewing my overall current condition, and then documented everything
thoroughly to serve as a reference "starting point" against
which future progress would be measured. After just one appointment,
I was able to literally "jump out of bed" where as
previously I had to "roll" first to get vertical. After
my first appointment with Mike, I would continue to have an appointment
every couple of weeks, with great ongoing improvement being accomplished.
In addition to Mike's neuromuscular and physical therapy he provides
me with recommendations on stretching and strengthening exercises
which has further improved my overall situation. Mike is
extremely personable, professional, and knowledgeable and provides
very thorough explanations and information to help
me understand my overall situation better. I continue to
meet with Mike every two weeks (and sometimes weekly during golf
season) for ongoing maintenance and improvement. Mike is
a true professional and expert in his field and I give him the
highest recommendation. Thank you for everything Mike -
you have made all the difference in my physical well-being.
- R. C. female Yoga, surfing, walking I could
write a book about my experience... I started seeing Michael
for treatment of severe migraines, tension headaches, chronic
back pain and neck problems in the Fall of 2005. A former
runner, at the age of 31, I had become physically incapable
of running for more than 100 meters without severe pain in my knees,
hips, back, shoulders and neck. I had suffered from chronic
back pain since I was a teenager. I had experienced a sudden
onset of severe migraines at the age of 29 which occurred four
times a week. After getting the migraines "under control" with
medication, I continued to experience weekly tension headaches,
constant back pain and physical discomfort. Physical therapists,
orthopedic surgeons and chiropractors were only able to provide
temporary relief, but never a solution. Medication only
treated the symptoms, not the underlying cause of the pain. Not
wanting to become a "medicine head" which would interfere
with my ability to perform as an employee, mother or college student, I
sought alternative treatment. Michael has taught me
how to maintain balance within my body, how to recognize when something
is wrong and what steps I can take on my own that can help. I
have not had a single tension headache or migraine since I began
treatment. Over the past 2 years, I have been physically
able to return to the gym, learn how to surf, practice
yoga, ski, and participate in almost any physical activity
I want to without the fear of being in pain for days afterwards. I
feel healthier, I have more energy and I don't feel restricted
by my body's limitations any longer. Physically, I feel younger
than I did 10 years ago.
- B. S. female Tennis, weight lifting, fitness classes,
cycling In lieu of epidurals or back surgery, I have
found relief for my perpetual back pain through Mike’s
magical massage. I know when I arrive for my massage
therapy, Mike will be able to loosen up the muscles around the
inflamed area and get to the root of the problem. Through
the massage, I can feel the blood flow deep into the tissue which
helps me with my flexibility. This relief allows me to
continue an active lifestyle, including tennis, running, and
weight training. Without this exercise activity, the rest
of my body will get arthritic and limit my day to day activities. The
sports massage allows me to maintain an active lifestyle. Massage
therapy is the way to go for me vs. surgery or needles in my
spine. I do it because it works!
- K. C. 43 male running, yoga, biking, hiking, kayaking. Michael's
common sense approach to my running injury was a breath of fresh
air. His extensive knowledge and therapeutic approach gave me the
tools to participate in my own healing. I have learned from
Michael that the combination of neuromuscular treatment and proactive
self care hold the keys to enhance my health and abilities as a
runner.
- D. C. I’m a 31 year old social worker who enjoys
hiking, rock climbing, skiing, surfing and exercising. Mike
helped me resolve many physical issues such as chronic back pain
due to a tailbone fracture and flat feet, carpel tunnel syndrome,
a shoulder injury and patella femoral syndrome in one knee. Mike
provided massage therapy and education on how to strengthen and
stretch properly to avoid future injuries and it worked! My
chiropractor, physical therapist and orthopedic surgeon all helped
me temporarily, but Mike helped me permanently. Thank you
Mike!
